This past Friday on the 17th of March, the Lisbon boys ran in their conference indoor meet at Cornell. This was their first meet against conference competition. It was a huge success, as the boys won eight events in total including the overall team title. The champions included Derek Bova in the 55m and 200m dash, Jack Butteris in the open 400, Thatcher Krob in the 1600, the 4x200m relay of Brett Givens, Bryce Hasselmann, Austin Krob, and Derek Bova, the distance medley relay of Blake Langhurst, Jack Butteris, Bailey Arwine, and Payton Bahl, the 4×800 relay team of Payton Bahl, Garrett Herring, Kaden Kilburg, and Thatcher Krob, and lastly the 4x400m relay of Blake Langhurst, Bailey Arwine, Payton Bahl, and Jack Butteris.
This was a great first meet for the boys, and a good showing of how they match up with the rest of the conference early in the season. Along with all the champions, there were also many other placewinners. They won the team title by 48 points over second place Maquoketa Valley. The boys will now get back to work on Monday in preparation for their first outdoor meet next Saturday at Cornell. There will be much more difficult competition at this upcoming meet, so the boys will have to step it up in order to bring home another team title.
