Jazz and Java!

By Katelyn Holets

What is the Jazz and Java Night?

The Jazz and Java Night is an event that is put on by the High School Jazz Band and Choir. It is an event where the High School Jazz Band and choir and other various groups perform and there is a silent auction to help raise money for the music department. The music department would also like to remind you that this is not a concert, so guests are welcome to come and go as they please! By doing this it will help to create a smooth system where everyone can see several groups perform and look at the silent auction baskets as they please.

When is the Jazz and Java Night?

The date for this event is Friday March 3rd, 2017! This is the second year that the Music Department will be hosting this event and we hope it will continue for many more years to come! This event is for all ages and we invite everyone to come!

What happened last year?

Last year we held this event at the Cornell College in Mount Vernon. After seeing how small the room size was compared to the crowd we decided that it was simply not big enough. In such a small room it was hard for the guests to move around to get refreshments and see the silent auction baskets. That is why this year we have decided to host this event in our Old Gymnatorium so that we can have the silent auction baskets out in the hall so everyone can see them and so that there will be plenty of seating for everyone!

What is happening this year?

This year the Jazz and Java Night will be on March 3rd from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in the Old Gymnatorium. Don’t worry we will be decorating the Old Gymnatorium to look nice and fancy! During this event you will be able to see several different groups perform, including the High School Jazz Band and the Choir. There will also be a silent auction that the students helped to make the baskets for! We will also have student art work hung up for auction as well! Also there will be food and drinks provided as part of the admission costs. Tickets for this event are $5 for students K-12 and $10 for adults. These tickets are being sold by the High School Band and the Choir students or you can buy your ticket at the door. Please come and support our band and choir!
