Lisbon’s Writing for Media Class Hosts Flood Relief Drive

Mrs. Kibbie’s Writing for Media class, the contributing authors of the Pride Rock blog, have organized an item drive to benefit flood victims in Louisiana and northern Iowa. The items will be collected from now until September 12th, and shipped to the affected areas to help people in need. Please consider donating!

Where can I donate?

Item boxes have been placed in the elementary and secondary offices, as well as in the choir room, and Mrs. Kibbie’s classroom. There are a few other locations around the school. Items can be dropped off in one of the many blue boxes.

What items do the flood victims need?

Cleaning products to sanitize flooded homes: Cleaning detergent, Shockwave for mold, paper towels, large garbage bags, rubber gloves, masks, scrub brushes, scouring pads, sponges

Items to help those displaced from their homes: toiletries like toothpaste/toothbrushes, hand sanitizer, shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, hand soap, adult diapers, disposable razors, toilet paper, bottled water, nonperishable food items

Items to aid displaced children: baby diapers, baby wipes, baby food, formula, sippy cups, bottles, school supplies

Items to aid displaced pets: pet food, leashes, collars

How can I be sure my items will reach those in need?

Writing for Media is partnering with United Way to make sure the items are distributed to those in need. Mrs. Kibbie has worked with United Way in the past through the Day of Caring.

Bonus! Donation raffle!

When you leave an item in the box, put your full name on it (writing on it with sharpie, taping a piece of paper to it, etc.) For each item you donate, your name will be added into a raffle drawing. The prize is a gift card to Caseys!
